Where can I download Opera for my device?

Use the Opera download page to choose Windows, macOS, Linux, Chromebook, Android, iPhone or iPad. Desktop users can also choose supported offline packages and other Opera browser editions.

When should I use an offline installer?

Use an offline installer when you want to keep the installer for later, move it on removable storage, or install Opera on a computer that cannot use the normal online installation flow.

How do I import bookmarks, history and passwords?

Open Opera Settings, go to Synchronization, and choose Import bookmarks and settings. Depending on the source browser, Opera can import bookmarks, browsing history, saved passwords, cookies and supported settings.

How do I make Opera my default browser?

Open Opera Settings and click Make default under Default browser. Also confirm Opera as the default browser in Windows, macOS or Linux system settings so web links and documents open in Opera.

How do I update Opera manually?

Open the Opera menu, choose Update & Recovery, then click Check for Update. After the update downloads, finish the update and relaunch Opera when prompted.

How do I recover Opera without deleting all my data?

Go to Update & Recovery and choose Recover. Select Keep my data and only reset Opera settings to reset browser settings, disable extensions and clear temporary data while keeping bookmarks, history and saved passwords.

How do I enable Opera Free VPN on desktop?

Go to Settings > Advanced > Privacy & security, find VPN and enable it. A VPN badge will appear near the address bar; open it to turn the VPN on and choose a virtual location.

Does Opera Free VPN require an account or data plan?

No. Opera Free VPN does not require a subscription or Opera account and has no data cap. It is a no-log browser VPN; on desktop it protects traffic inside Opera rather than all traffic from the device.

How do I turn Opera Ad Blocker on or off?

Open Easy Setup from the top-right of Opera and use the Ad Blocker control. You can also manage privacy and site-specific settings from Opera Settings when a particular website needs an exception.

A website needs camera, location or notifications. Where do I change permission?

Open Settings > Advanced > Privacy & security > Site settings. Choose the permission you need, then allow, block or remove the saved exception for the affected website.

How do I change cookie settings for websites?

Go to Settings > Advanced > Privacy & security > Site settings > Cookies and site data. From there you can change general cookie behavior or add site-specific allow, block or clear-on-exit rules.

What should I check if a website stops working in Opera?

First update Opera and reload the site. Then check Ad Blocker, extensions, cookies and the site’s permissions. If the problem is reproducible after those checks, report the site issue from Opera’s Help menu.

How do I open Opera AI?

Click the Ask AI button near the top-right of the browser. You can also open Opera AI with Ctrl+O on Windows or Cmd+O on macOS.

Do I need an account to use Opera AI?

No account is required for the core Opera AI experience. Opera AI can work with the context of the open page and tabs, while some additional features or limits may depend on the current service state.

How do I reopen a tab I closed by mistake?

Right-click the tab bar and choose Reopen last closed tab. Opera also provides tab search and tab-management tools when you need to find pages in a larger browsing session.

How do I move a tab to another Workspace?

Right-click the tab, choose Move tab to workspace, then select the destination Workspace. Workspaces appear at the top of Opera’s sidebar.

How do I show or hide the Opera sidebar?

Open Easy Setup and use Show sidebar. To choose what appears there, click the three-dot icon at the bottom of the sidebar or go to Settings > Sidebar > Manage sidebar.

How do I add WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack or Discord to the sidebar?

Open Sidebar setup and enable the messengers you want. Current sidebar options include WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack and Discord, along with social, AI and other browser services. Notification badges can be controlled in Sidebar settings.

Sync, Flow & troubleshooting

Use Sync and Flow for continuity between devices, and use Opera’s recovery and reporting tools when the browser itself is unstable.

How do I turn Opera Sync on?

Open Settings > Synchronization and sign in to your Opera account. Use Advanced sync settings to choose which supported data types should sync between your Opera browsers.

What data can Opera Sync keep across devices?

Opera Sync can synchronize bookmarks, Speed Dial entries, browsing history, passwords, settings and open tabs across signed-in Opera browsers.

What is the difference between Sync and My Flow?

Sync uses an Opera account to synchronize supported browser data. My Flow is a connected-device space for sending links, notes, files and other supported content between Opera browsers.

What should I do if Opera keeps crashing?

Restart Opera first. If the crash continues, back up important Opera files, try Update & Recovery, or perform a clean installation. When the crash dialog appears, send a crash report with details about what you were doing.

How do I report a website that is broken in Opera?

On Windows or Linux, open O Menu > Help > Report an issue. On macOS, use Help > Report an Issue. Include the affected site, severity and a description of what is not working.

When should I use a clean installation?

Use a clean installation when restarting, updating and recovery do not solve persistent crashes or profile problems. Back up important Opera files before uninstalling and removing profile data.
